EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)-The number of reported permanent business closures has remained at 15 from this past week the number of revenue and job loss, however is steady going up.

According to data based on 668 Humboldt County self-reporting businesses claimed a more than $28,000 revenue loss and a more than 2,000 permanent job loss, blamed on the Covid-19 pandemic.

The county’s Economic Impact Survey was designed to gather information, while keeping participants anonymous.

According to the Executive Director of Humboldt County Workforce Development Board Cara Owings the county is not in position to reveal the names of the businesses that closed.

She says businesses who have closed permanently are in a vulnerable position right now.

If sharing their financial information and name of their business publicly, including the name of their business, it’s their prerogative.
