California ammunition law blocked for 24 hours

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca (KIEM) – A federal judge recently blocked a California law regarding the purchase of ammunition, but as of 10 p.m. on Friday night the ninth circuit changed that order.

On April 23^rd, the California law requiring background checks for people purchasing ammunition was blocked.

According to the California Department of Justice, nearly one in five law-abiding gun owners were restricted from purchasing ammunition. Most of those restrictions resulted from an address mismatch or the purchaser not being in the database.

On Friday April 24^th, the ninth district stayed the district court’s injunction order and ammunition background checks are back.
