California ammunition law blocked for 24 hours

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca (KIEM) – A federal judge recently blocked a California law regarding the purchase of ammunition, but as of 10 p.m. on Friday night the ninth circuit changed that order.

On April 23rd, the California law requiring background checks for people purchasing ammunition was blocked.

According to the California Department of Justice, nearly one in five law-abiding gun owners were restricted from purchasing ammunition. Most of those restrictions resulted from an address mismatch or the purchaser not being in the database.

On Friday April 24th, the ninth district stayed the district court’s injunction order and ammunition background checks are back.
