Eureka, Ca (KIEM) – Governor Gavin Newsom this week outlined his four stage proposal to opening up California. With the shelter-in-place order looking to be lifted in weeks, local restaurants have been trying to figure out how they will manage.

Governor Newsome has shaped a policy list that restaurants will have to follow when they open back up for dine in services. Reporter Skye Kimya talked to owner Charity Desbrow of The Greene Lily in Eureka to talk about her preparation before that time comes.

And that is just one challenge Desbrow is facing. The Greene Lily opened on April 20 with free delivery and curbside pick-up but now facing the challenge of potentially opening for dine-in services soon involves a lot of decisions.

Governor Newsom’s policies include taking customers temperature at the door, cutting the number of dine-in tables in half and requiring waitresses to wear masks and gloves. Desbrow is trying to make decisions accordingly but she is still unsure of how she will make this possible for herself, her employees and her customers.

With sales reaching only 25% of what they normally are, Desbrow is excited to potentially open for dine-in soon, but she is also concerned. She plans to ensure a safe and clean environment for those that choose to dine-in in the future.
