Food for People Planning Drive-Through Food Distribution Event in Arcata

Arcata, Ca. (KIEM) — Food for People is holding an emergency drive through food box distribution for those that have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.

It’s happening Wednesday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 at the Arcata Community Center. The parking lot will open at 2. People need to stay in their cars and volunteers will load the food into your trunk in order to limit face to face interactions and practice safe social distancing.

For Wednesday’s event, food was donated by the California Association of Food Banks and Pay It Forward Humboldt. Food for People supplied some of the food themselves as well. According to development director Carly Robbins, they’re hoping to pass out roughly 600 boxes at the event.

In order to keep everyone safe, no bikes or walkers will be allowed at the event. Those on foot or bike can go to the Arcata Food Pantry at Trinity Baptist Church which is open every Wednesday from 3 to 6pm.
