County asked to collect info on cannabis industry participants eligible for funding

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)-The state has asked the county to collect anonymous demographic information on local cannabis industry participants who may be eligible for funding through Project Trellis.

The county is asking cannabis business owners to respond to a short survey to help satisfy this request.

The project is partly, to strengthen the cannabis industry and protect future cannabis excise tax revenues by providing services to populations and communities in Humboldt who were adversely affected by the criminalization of cannabis and to provide framework for supportive programs and to assist cannabis businesses as they work to overcome the financial and logistical challenges of coming into compliance.

Funding for the program will come from local cannabis excise tax revenues, cannabis fines and fees, and state funding via SB-1294.

The survey does not ask for any identifying information.

The deadline to submit responses is Sunday.
