Decomposed body found near Arcata Bottoms

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – A badly decomposed body was found near the Arcata Bottoms Thursday afternoon.

A beach goer stumbled upon the grizzly site just before 2 p.m. in the area of Ma-le’l Dunes.

It is unclear if the body washed up out of the ocean.

The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office is in the process of scheduling an autopsy and identifying the body.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
