Local tattoo shop one of many to reopen on Friday

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – One family run tattoo shop in Arcata was excited to open its doors on Friday after having to figure out how to pay rent for the last two months.

Public Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich announced that personal care services could reopen on Friday, as long as the company has a business certification plan approved by the Emergency Operations Center.

Nor Cal Tattoo closed its doors on March 12, just days after hiring a new tattoo artist from Hollywood.

We spoke to owner Amy Marks as she and her family cleaned and remodeled just before the reopening.

The Marks family worked diligently to create fundraisers and buy one-hour, get one-hour free tattoo coupons to keep the shop alive.

Nor Cal Tattoo is following very strict guidelines as they work on tattoos and piercings.

They tell us face masks and face shields will be worn during every session. Also, the parlor has been broken up into sections to keep each party as far away from each other as possible.

Clients are asked to come in by themselves. For those under 18, a guardian will be asked to wait in the car after necessary paperwork is signed.

Marks says Nor Cal Tattoo has been looking forward to this reopening and want to provide services to their clientele in the safest way possible.

At this point, appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome under certain conditions.

For bookings, Nor Cal Tattoo can be reached at 707-630-5077.
