HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – Are you a HealthSPORT member and missing the gym? Well, you’re in luck. Friday was the day that the remaining four HealthSPORT locations reopened.

It was not even a week ago that Humboldt County Public Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich gave business sectors, such as gyms and fitness centers, the go ahead to reopen once they have been certified by the Emergency Operations Center. HealthSPORT CEO Susan Jansson wasted no time in starting the process.

Jansson and her team are excited to welcome the community back. Safety advancements were implemented in the Fortuna location that opened for one on one training in May, and are now keeping the rest of the locations clean and safe.

Along with the new Monday through Friday open schedule, HealthSPORT is utilizing a new online tool to let members know how full each gym is. All you have to do is head to their website and click “Check Status” under the “Club Capacity” headline.

With four locations reopening in one day, Manager Doug Hartley is full speed ahead in ensuring that all members and employees feel safe and comfortable as they work, or work out.

After three months of not being able to work out in a gym, HealthSPORT members talked about what it is like to walk through the doors again.

As the county warns the community that COVID-19 numbers will go up as more sectors reopen, they want to remind people that safety precautions and county compliancy are very important.

For those that are not a HealthSPORT member but want to get in the gym, The Club for Fitness in McKinleyville reopens Sunday, July 5. The Cal Courts Health and Fitness Annex location reopens June 29, with the Broadway location opening July 6.
