DA’s Office asking for public’s help in locating wanted fugitive

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The District Attorney’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a man with outstanding “no-bail” arrest warrants.

40-year-old Nathan Michael LaCount is wanted for causing injury while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, hit and run causing injury, child endangerment, and conspiracy.

In February, LaCount plead guilty to charges linked to incidents in 2016 and 2019. At his sentencing, a judge gave LaCount the chance to attend the Delancy Street Foundation, an inpatient residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in San Francisco, followed by probation. This in lieu of an 8 year prison sentence pending LaCount’s successful completion of the program.

On April 10th, the DA’s Office learned LaCount walked away from the facility. Then on April 18th, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested LaCount for the outstanding warrants and booked into jail. Prior to being arraigned, LaCount bailed out of custody and given a court date of July 13th, which he didn’t show up for.

He is known to frequent the Garberville and Redway area, possibly with his wife Melissa LaCount. Anyone with information is asked to call your local law enforcement agency.
