HSU student-athlete nominated for NCAA Women of the Year Award

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – A Humboldt State University Women’s Crew Alumna has been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Amelia Wagoner is one of a record 605 Division I, II and III female collegiate athletes that have been nominated.

The Coalinga, California native was a four-year letter-winner for the Lumberjacks’ nationally ranked women’s rowing team.

She was a part of the 2017, 2018 and 2019 WIRA Championship Teams, and in 2018 she received the HSU Crew Team Hammer Award.

Wagoner graduated from HSU this past May with a Bachelor’s Degree in History Education and minor in Geography.

She has received numerous honors during her time at HSU, including the 2020 GNAC All-Academic Team. She has also volunteered at many community service activities and leadership positions.

Among the 126 Division II nominees, a top 30 will be picked by NCAA representatives.

From that top 30, the Women of the Year Selection Committee will choose the top three honorees in each division as they announce the nine NCAA Women of the Year Award finalists.
