12 new Covid-19 cases reported Monday, largest single day increase since start of pandemic

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — Monday marks the largest single day increase of Covid-19 cases with the Public Health Department reporting 12 new cases. The new cases bring Humboldt County’s total case count to 217.

The county’s alert level remains at level 3.

Since last week, 1 more case has been reported in Northern Humboldt, 24 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 3 more in Southern Humboldt.

As far as the age breakdown of cases, the biggest increase has been among people in their 20’s with 15 new cases reported in that age group. This age group now has more positive cases than any other group.

Four more people in their 30’s, 4 more in their 40’s, as well as 1 more person in their 50’s and 1 more in their 60’s have been reported.

Of the total cases, 116 had contact to a known case, 64 are travel related, and 29 are a result of community transmission. There are currently 8 cases under investigation.
