Firefighters battle two vegetation fires along Samoa Peninsula

FAIRHAVEN, Calif. (KIEM) – Firefighters battled two vegetation fires on the Samoa Peninsula in Fairhaven on Monday.

The fires broke out a little before 5 p.m., one burning between Simpson Private Road and Lincoln Avenue, and the other burning southeast of Lincoln Avenue and Duprey Street.

Multiple engines were dispatched to the scene including Samoa Fire, Humboldt Bay Fire, Arcata Fire, Cal Fire and Loleta fire.

Just before 7, incident commander and Assistant Chief of Samoa Peninsula Fire District said the fires were contained and a dozer would soon be creating a line south of the fire between Simpson Private Road and Lincoln Avenue to reduce danger to nearby structures.
