Humboldt County kidnapping suspect found

TALENT, Or. (KIEM) – The suspect involved in a kidnapping out of Fieldbrook has been located and the victim is safe.

On Tuesday, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office announced the active search for 43-year-old George Rose of Humboldt County who was believed to have kidnapped 27-year-old Joy Hong of Fieldbrook.

Rose reportedly forced entry into a residence on the 1600 block of Fieldbrook Road in Fieldbrook before forcing three residents, including Hong, into a vehicle and fled.

At some point, Rose stopped the vehicle in the Orleans area, left two of the victims behind and fled in the vehicle with Hong.

This afternoon, HCSO received notification from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that Rose was located near Talent, Oregon.

Rose reportedly approached a resident’s home, requesting assistance in contacting law enforcement to turn himself in.

JCSO deputies responded to the call where they located Rose and Hong.

Hong was found alive and unharmed, and Rose was taken into custody.
