Red Salmon Complex Fire continues to grow, reaches more than 100,000 acres

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Red Salmon Complex Fire has grown to more than 100,000 acres and is still only 17% contained.

The growth is primarily due to burnout operations in the southwest and northeast corners of the fire. Fire crews on the west flank are in mop-up status and crews have shifted to other areas of the complex to secure containment.

Officials want to remind the public, especially as hunting seasons open, all National Forest closures remain in place until September 21st.
