Red Salmon Complex Fire has scorched over 106,000 acres

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Red Salmon Complex Fire has grown to more than 106,000 acres as it continues to burn across 3 national forests.

The fire is about 106,200 acres and remains 19% contained. Near Tish Tang Creek, 3 spot fires were discovered. All were just a couple of acres and have now been contained.

“The stuff on Hotelling Ridge is all holding within its current footprint and looking really good. We’re patrolling the Methodist Creek spot. That’s looking really good as well,” Planning Operations Chief Gordon Meyer says.

About 560 personnel are fighting the fire.
