Eureka Police CSET holds cleanup project along Vigo Street

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — After getting numerous complaints of trash, thefts, and vandalism, the Eureka Police Department’s Community Safety Engagement Team has wrapped up a cleanup project along Vigo Street.

During the cleanup, workers collected enough trash to half-way fill a forty yard dumpster. Four 5 gallon buckets were filled with used hypodermic needles. They also collected 21 shopping carts.

Officials say many of the homeless people who live in the area have been there for years and have refused help from local outreach organizations.
