Bicycle versus pickup truck collision leaves one person dead

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — One person is dead after a fatal collision Thursday night in Eureka. It happened just after 11 pm.

Eureka Police say a bicyclist and pickup truck collided along Broadway just south of West Hawthorne. Officials say the bicyclist veered into the path of the on-coming truck and was hit head-on. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured and was not driving under the influence.

The identity of the victim will be released after notification of family.
