HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Red Salmon Complex Fire remains 75% contained, after burning more than 143,000 acres.

The red flag warning is a concern for the fire over the August Complex due to strong winds and low humidity levels.

Rain not expected in the immediate future, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Despite good humidity recoveries expected in the valleys, a cold, dry front is nearing from the northeast and will bring very dry air into the fire area.

Smoke – also a concern – it will continue to affect the area due to burning within containment lines.

Suppression repair and equipment back haul operations continue in the remaining divisions.

There are nearly 600-personnel currently working the fire.

For firefighter and public safety, fire officials remind visitors, areas and roads within and near the perimeter of the fire are closed
