The Red Salmon Complex Fire burns 144,139 acres

TRINITY COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – The Red Salmon Complex Fire is now more than 144,000 acres with 78% containment.

The fire is located 14 miles northwest of Willow Creek and was started by lightning strikes in late July.

It is currently burning in steep rugged terrain- primarily in The Trinity Alps Wilderness area.

Heavy fuels and leaf litter continue to burn along the creeks and deep drainage areas.

The fire watch aircraft confirmed last night that the fire has not yet crossed to the east side of the Plummer Creek.

Crews estimate that the fire will be contained in mid-November.
