California, two other West Coast states issue new travel advisory

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The states of California, Oregon, and Washington issued travel advisories Friday, as a result of the rising number of Covid-19 cases around the country.

They’re asking visitors coming into the state, or people returning home from outside the state, to self-quarantine for 14 days. The states are also urging against non-essential trips, asking people to only travel if absolutely necessary.

California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaley assures California residents the advisory isn’t a flat-out ban or restriction.

“Putting out an advisory, a strong urge guidance on what to do when traveling, but first and foremost to avoid it as much as possible. That is going to be an approach and a commitment to Californians to do what we believe is the right thing. It is going to help us along the way throughout this entire pandemic,” California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaley says.
