Local mayor talks spike in COVID cases in weekly address

Eureka, Calif. (KIEM)-With COVID-19 cases on the rise in recent days – Eureka’s mayor urges community members to continue to practice safe habits to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“Please, please, remember to be extra-cautious for the next several weeks practice the habits we know are effective of keeping the pandemic at bay,” she said. “While we’re still in yellow, we are quickly moving dangerously close to orange territory, which will mean more restrictions for many of our businesses.”

Mayor Susan Seaman says, there are ways to help keep the CORONAVIRUS in check.

 “This virus is an insidious silent killer, but until we have a vaccine, we at least have effective strategies to avoid it,” she said.  “It continues to require diligence and sacrifice, even after all this time.  The more we work together to stay safe ourselves, the more we keep everyone in our community safe.”

The State of California, along with Oregon and Washington State issued travel advisories yesterday, as COVID-19 cases increase.

Health officials ask visitors entering the state, or those returning home from outside the state, to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The states also strongly advice against non-essential travel and ask people only travel if absolutely necessary.
