30 new Covid-19 cases reported, largest single day increase since start of pandemic

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Public Health Department confirms 30 new cases of Covid-19 Wednesday. This is the highest single day total since the pandemic first began.

The total case count has risen to 949 with health officials monitoring 145 active cases. One previous hospitalization was determined to be unrelated to covid-19 despite a positive test upon admission. One additional hospitalization has been reported today as well.

Of the total cases, 459 contracted the virus through contact with a known case, 176 are travel related, and 90 a result of community transmission. There are 224 cases still under investigation. On a better note, 15 more recoveries were reported bringing the total to 795.
