Man injured in Eureka shooting

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – One man was taken to an area hospital Thursday evening after a shooting in Eureka.

The incident happened on the 100 block of W Del Norte Street just before 10 p.m. 

According to witnesses, the victim was shot at least three times but remained conscience as first responders arrived on the scene. A witness says the victim was not inside a residence when he was shot.

Tina Orton-Owens, a local EMT Certified resident said she was in her residence when she heard three rapid gun shots. She ran outside and approached the victim to help until EMS responders arrived on scene.

Police have confirmed that they are looking for a black 4-door Sedan that is thought to have fled the scene at the time of the shooting.

Del Norte Street was blocked off between California and Pine streets. And police have considered this an active crime scene.
