PG&E offering new incentive to encourage California residents to purchase electric vehicles

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Cali. (KIEM) — PG&E is teaming up with the California Air Resources Board to offer the California Clean Fuel Reward as an incentive to get more drivers to go electric.

It’s a point of sale price reduction of up to $1,500 off the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle. The retailer will include the reward in transaction. No extra paper work needs to be done by the customer. Vehicles purchased before November 17th of 2020 are not eligible for the reward.

The reward can be combined with other incentives, such as the clean vehicle rebate project, which PG&E says could potentially save customers thousands of dollars.

“The reason that this new incentive is available is really to help get more EV’s out on the road. Electric vehicles are really important for California and for the country to help support clean energy and transportation goals. The more EV’s that are on the road using clean electricity as fuel that also goes towards creating cleaner air for all Californians,” according to Ari Vanrenen, a spokesperson for PG&E.
