Outside that window drivers can expect 30-minute delays. It’s all because of tree removal and slide prevention work that’s being performed by crews. On Friday, helicopters have been working in the area staging equipment and excavators are being set up. This will continue Saturday, but operations are subject to change.

“It’s all based on slide activity, it’s based on the weather, and it’s based on what Mother Nature has in store for us. Really, I just have to thank our crews for their hard work, for our spotters for keeping the traveling public safe there, our partners for helping us and sharing updates, and the public for their patience as we battle Mother Nature,” according to Myles Cochrane, public information officer for Caltrans District 1.
