EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A woman is in the Humboldt County Jail on charges of child endangerment.
On Friday, at about 5 p.m. 25 year old Jasmine Sheets was inside a business on the 1700 Block of Myrtle Avenue.
A passerby noticed Sheet’s baby inside her car, alone, with the doors locked, and the windows rolled up. By the time the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, the baby had been rescued from the car and Sheets was found inside the business drinking alcohol.
Deputies say the baby had been left in the car for 1 to 2 hours.
HSCO officials want to remind everyone that even on a relatively cool day, a small child left in a car can suffer heat stroke and die.
