Man drowns in the Eel River

Holmes Flat, CA. (KIEM) – A man is dead after swimming in the Eel River and getting swept away by the current.

On Monday, at about 3:30 in the afternoon, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to the Holmes Flat Area, where a 57 year old man had been swimming.

About a half of an hour later, the man’s body was found in the water. Rescue crews retrieved the man’s body and performed C.P.R.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. No ID has been released yet.
