Arcata Mayor Arrested for DUI

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – The mayor of Arcata, Brett Watson was arrested over the weekend on charges of DUI and possession of narcotics.

According to the California Highway Patrol just before midnight on August 1st Mayor Brett Watson was seen driving through a traffic control area on southbound highway 101 and Sunset Avenue.  CHP pulled Watson over and during a search of his vehicle, a small amount of narcotics was also found.

He was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and then, released a short time later.

Redwood News reached out to Watson’s office and the Arcata city manager’s office for comment, however, neither has returned our call.
