EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – When College of the Redwoods Softball returns to the field in 2021, the team will be led by Megan Valente.
Valente will replace Maggie White who stepped down in July after coaching for 25 years. During that time, White led CR Softball to multiple playoff appearances, one state final championship appearance, and four GVC conference championships.
White will remain with CR as a Health and Kinesiology instructor and mentor to the CR Cap and Gown program.
Megan Valente will immediately take the reigns of the program. She plans to meet with student athletes and new recruits later this month.
Valente served as assistant coach under White from 2018 to 2020. She most recently coached at Adams State University.
In a CR news release, Valente expressed her enthusiasm.
“I am excited to come back and work with this talented group of athletes and make a run to win the GVC,” Valente said.
