Murder Victim Memorial

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) A memorial has now been erected to remember an Arcata homeless man who was murdered. Ricky Smith was killed last week at 17th and G Streets, where he could often be seen playing his guitar. A memorial consisting of flowers, balloons and photos has gone up near the scene of his death. He was found lying unconscious last Wednesday evening after being beaten during a fight with another man who is now behind bars. His family says Smith had been living on the streets of Arcata for a decade and had mental health issues.
