YUROK LANDS ACT

NORTH COAST, Calif. (KIEM) A new bill introduced in congress would return more than a thousand acres of ancestral land in the North Coast back to the Yurok Tribe. If passed, the bill would extend the reservation boundary to include the Yurok’s old-growth forest and salmon sanctuary in the lower part of Blue Creek. The measure, which is called the ‘Yurok Lands Act’ is being sponsored by North Coast Congressman Jared Huffman.
