Eureka–The City of Eureka invited local historians, press, and the public for the opening of a time capsule where the historic Lloyd building once stood.

The capsule was buried around 1915.

The items inside the capsule included–copies of newspapers such as the Humboldt Times, the Herald, Labor News and a special edition of the Californian.

Other items included an eagle made from redwood burl, a badge worn by members of Venice Aerie, and much more.

The items are said to possibly be displayed at Cal Poly Humboldt or the Clarke Museum.

For now, they will be held at the Historical Society Headquarters in Eureka.
