The new Open Door Community Health Center building that is coming to Arcata has been a project for over 10 years.

“We’re building a new state-of-the-art health center to replace two older clinics that we have here in Arcata,” said Cheyenne Spetzler, the Senior Vice President of Development for Open Door.

It took over 10 years to secure the right location for the building. This Open Door clinic will serve its existing patients with room for expansion until it reaches a capacity of 1,400 patients. Open Door services will remain the same as their previous locations.

“Those services are typically primary care, medical services, so exams, health checkups,” Septzler said.

Additional services will include behavioral health services for adults and children. Although, there will be no dental resources available in this new building. A grand opening date for the new facility is to be determined.

“We sent in our licensing application in the fall,” Septzler said. “We had to wait to get occupancy for the building before we could send our licensing application. So we sent that off first part of November and we haven’t heard back from licensing and we need state licensing before we can move our services to this location.”

As soon as the state approves a license, this Open Door building in Arcata will open its doors to the public. Once they receive their final licensing they plan to host a grand opening event for the community.
