K9 sniffs out quarter pound of meth, two arrested by Drug Task Force

STAFFORD – Humboldt County Drug Task Force arrested two men after a law enforcement K9 finds a quarter pound of methamphetamine in their possession.
Special agents stopped a vehicle belonging to 25-year-old Jose Trujillo on Highway 101 near Stafford around 1:00a.m. Saturday morning.
With the help of a drug detecting k-9, officers located a quarter pound of suspected methamphetamine in the car.
An additional search of a Fortuna hotel room rented to Trujillo turned up a digital scale, packaging materials and other evidence of drug sales.
Both Trujillo and his passenger 37-year-old Ricardo Avalos were arrested for transportation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Trujillo was booked in to the Humboldt County Jail. Avalos suffered a medical emergency and was treated at a local hospital. A photo of Avalos was not released.
