Empowering young gift givers: McKinleyville Lions host “Winter Express”

McKinleyville, Ca,. (KIEM)- The Winter Express is made up of 140 feet of table space, filled to from end to end with prospective presents. The holiday market place is staffed by 16 members of the McKinleyville Lions Club, to bring the joy of gift-giving to kindergarten through third graders in the area.

For more than 11 years, community members and businesses have donated items for men, women, children, infants, and even pets. Students from the area pay a small donation to get “Santa Bucks.” Those “bucks” are then exchanged for four items. Volunteers help the pint-sized shoppers to wrap those selections and get them ready to carry home.
