Red Fire burns quarter acre in Southern Humboldt

REDWAY, Ca (KIEM)- Along with the fire to our east, local agencies responded to a vegetation fire in Southern Humboldt.

The Red Fire was reported at 11:30 Thursday morning near Redway and burned a quarter acre.

Battalion chief Paul Savonna said CalFire sent a helicopter and ground crews to the scene.

Steep terrain and access to the location made it difficult to bring the fire under control.

The cause is not known at this time.
