EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – Food for people is known for helping those in need. They’re always open to taking new volunteers. A mom and daughter are giving back to the community by helping the Food Pantry. Leon Purvis brings us more.

Emily Sugg signed up for food for people’s orientation to become a volunteer, because the academy of the redwoods requires her to do community service hours.  But she also has a deeper personal reason coming back to the Food Pantry.

Now, its full circle for her to give back to those in need.

Emily’s mom is the one who encouraged her to come here. She is leading by example, being a role model for her daughter.

Now, bonnie can’t wait to see the look on the faces of those who will be full of food because of the difference she’s making.

After food for people distributed more than 2 million pounds of food last year, they’re always looking for more volunteers to help grow the programs they have.

Food for People holds their orientation for new volunteers every Monday at 2:30 in the afternoon at their location on 307 West and 14th street in Eureka. For more information go to FoodForPeople.org.
