Man in Custody for Kidnapping Girlfriend

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A man is in custody for kidnapping his girlfriend and evading police.

Eureka Police Department received a phone call around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 that 37-year-old Chai Lia Her was holding her against her will.

Police were told Her would not let the victim out of his vehicle while driving around Eureka.

The victim phoned 911 around 4:15 a.m., and she could be heard stating to be taken home repeatedly.

Roughly 30 minutes later officer’s located Her’s truck traveling southbound on Fairway Dr..

Officers attempted a high rick traffic stop on Herrick Ave., but Her fled and continued northbound onto Highway 101.

The vehicle eventually stopped on Glen St. at Harris Ave., and Her was detained without further incident.

The victim was found uninjured in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Her was booked, and is held on $75,000 bail.
