Old Town Goes Dark After Stay at Home Shelter Goes Active

EUREKA, Ca.(KIEM)-  Many residents have taken it upon themselves to stay indoors tonight. This after, the state issued a shelter in place. The measure will be active until April ninth.

This was the scene in Old Town, Eureka at around 8:30 pm. Police officers could be seen patrolling the area despite not much foot traffic in downtown Eureka.

Residents are allowed to leave their homes but only for the essentials. If a person violates this, it can result in a misdemeanor.
