HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Fraudulent face mask exemption cards have been reported to be in circulation, prompting a warning issued by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The face mask exempt card states that the cardholder is exempt from wearing a face mask in public because it poses a mental and/or physical risk to the themselves.
The card lists the “Americans with Disabilities Act” violation reporting number, and includes information about penalties that can be assessed if violated.
According to the Humboldt County Health Department facial coverings should not be placed on children under age 2 or on anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the facial coverings without assistance.
