Man sustains moderate injuries after vehicle rolls over near Ferndale

FERNDALE, Calif. (KIEM) — A man sustains moderate injuries after his vehicle veers off the roadway into trees and the Eel River riverbar.

It happened just before 9 Wednesday morning near the Fernbridge off ramp along southbound Highway 101. Multiple local agencies responded to the scene.

According to California Highway Patrol, the vehicle was difficult to access so 4 by 4 vehicles and air assistance was requested. Emergency personnel had better luck accessing the scene via the Palmer Road off ramp.

The man was initially trapped, but eventually was able to remove himself from the vehicle. He sustained an injury to his arm. At this point in time, the man has been advised that it is his responsibility to remove his vehicle from the riverbar.
