8,194 Illegal Cannabis Plants Eradicated In Del Norte County

DEL NORTE, Ca. (KIEM) – Wildlife Officers along with the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office serve five search warrants for illegal commercial cannabis cultivation.

The remote parcels off of Low Divide Road and Rowdy Creek Road lacked the state licenses needed to cultivate.

Wildlife Officers were assisted by several other agencies in a two day operation where approximately 8,194 cannabis plants were eradicated, four firearms seized, and seventeen environmental crimes documented.

Violations included unlawful stream diversions and altercations, sediment and petroleum pollution, and depositing litter near state waters.

Five suspects were detained with one arrested on charges of felony cannabis cultivation and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

The case is under investigation and will be sent to the Del Norte District Attorney Office for review.
