Del Norte County reports first Covid-19 related death

DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — Up to our north, Del Norte County has reported its first Covid-19 related death. The person who passed away was over 65 years old and experienced multiple underlying health conditions.

Public Health officials say the case was likely a result of community transmission. No specific place or event was identified as the source of infection. Health officials are currently monitoring 7 active cases.

To date, there have been 108 total cases reported with 56 having contact to a known case, 9 being travel related, and 41 have been a result of community transmission. Currently, there are 2 cases under investigation.
