Humboldt State University reports first Covid-19 case, student in isolation

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) — Late Monday afternoon, Humboldt State University announced its first confirmed Covid-19 case connected to campus.

The university says a student who recently moved into campus housing has tested positive. The student is asymptomatic and has been moved to a room on campus set aside for isolation. The case was based on results of ongoing testing on campus.

According to HSU, they will be conducting frequent health checks with the student, as well as providing meal delivery and other necessities. The university is working with the public health department to determine whether there are members of the campus community that need to be advised of their contact with the student.

Moving forward, students will be tested 3 times over the course of a 14 day quarantine period.
