College of the Redwoods approves solar energy plan

The College of the Redwoods approves solar energy plan to help convert the main campus power usage to renewable solar energy.

The solar energy plan is expected to help improve sustainability in the region.

The system will cover a portion of the open field space on campus, a third of campus parking, and the Learning Resource Center roof.

President Keith Flamer says expanding the use of solar power will provide a reliable energy source for the campus and will help mitigate climate change.

The construction of the project will begin in about a year.
