Operation Santa Paws: Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Holds Local Toy Drive for Shelter Animals

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Shelter animals are in for a big treat this Christmas, and it’s all thanks to operation Santa paws.

For the first time ever, the Humboldt county sheriff’s office will bring treats and toys to animals in need by teaming up with local businesses for a holiday collection drive.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer, Samantha Karges, says, “This is just something that we wanted to engage the community…give back to the animals who you know- don’t really have a voice in all of this and they need to have a happy Christmas too.”

You can make donations to the local shelter at collection bins at Safeway, NorCal Pet Supply, Redway Feed & Garden Supply, Humboldt county sheriff’s offices in Eureka or Mckinleyville or the Humboldt county animal shelter.

Animal control and facilities manager, Andre Hale, says, “It’s quite meaningful…you know, being able to play, and you know, have treats and blankets etc… all that goes to improve their lives while they’re with us until they can go to their new forever home.”
