Bucher says the guided field trips are designed to get a younger more diverse generation interested in birding, in the name of preservation.

“We are generally a very white community, we would like more Indigenous, but you know there is a lot of reason for them not to trust us, you know, because of all of the history and stuff,” Bucher said.
