Deadly crash near Henderson Center

"Intoxication may have been a factor in this traffic collision"

Story by Lauren Brenner

Just after noon on Tuesday, a truck reportedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.

The collision caused the truck to flip multiple times.

Police investigators say the truck was headed north on I Street and failed to stop at the red light on Henderson. The truck was then struck by an oncoming vehicle in the intersection.

Witnesses say the driver emerged from the truck after the accident. Paramedics took her to the hospital with minor injuries.

Her passenger didn’t survive.

Lori Culver lives across the street from the crash site. She was outside and heard the crash.

“I was in my backyard picking apples, and I just heard this terrible sound,” Culver told us. “So I come out and I just yelled at my husband to dial 911. And I could see that truck had flipped multiple times and then the lady that got out, the driver said that she had ran the red lights and stuff.”

Eureka Police haven’t released the names of the driver and passenger, but report “intoxication may have been a factor in this traffic collision.”
