HCOE’s Career Fair arrives for job seekers next month

On Saturday, March 23, job seekers will be able to come face-to-face with employers.

The Humboldt County Office of Education career fair is for people looking to make a difference in education.

“I was personally interested in HCOE because of its commitment to student success and well-being,” Director of Human Resources Ariel Aaron said. “I think that we all have the same passion for making sure our kids are successful, our staff is well supported, and being a part of the organization has been great so far.”

Jobs can range from being an educator in the classroom to working behind the scenes as an administrator.

“We also invite all the districts to come out, set up, really just showcase all the positions we have available with HCOE and the districts. There’s really a multitude of positions available,” Aaron said.”

Other positions include working in food service and in maintenance at various school sites across the county.

“Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes to the career fair. They’ll be descriptions available. Some of the districts might have applications available, so they’ll really be able to talk to each district and HCOE about the requirements for various positions, next steps, and gathering information in terms of what to expect,” Aaron said.

It comes at a time when unemployment numbers are down, but job hunters may be ready to find something new.

“I would suggest coming, taking a look at what’s available because all of the positions will have different minimum qualifications, and there might be positions you didn’t realize you were qualified for that you actually are,” Aaron said. “Even if you’re unsure, come take and look. You just never know.”

Ariel has some advice for those ready to find their new career.

“Bring a resume, come with your A-game, show your passion, show your personality. Bring your enthusiasm and your passion for education. That’s really what everyone is looking for.”
