One more COVID-19 related death and 26 more cases reported since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Humboldt County Public Health Department has confirmed the sixth COVID-19 related death today. The individual was in their 70’s and was hospitalized for COVID-19 symptoms.

Twenty-six new cases have been reported since Friday, bringing the county’s total case count to 473.

One more hospitalization has been reported as well, but we have also seen 28 more recoveries bringing that number to 410.

Of the total cases, 301 had contact to a known case, 99 are travel related and 63 are a results of community transmission.

As far as the regional breakdown, three more cases have been reported in Northern Humboldt, 27 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area and nine more in Southern Humboldt.

Once again, the biggest increase in cases is among people under the age of 20 with 13 more cases. The next biggest weekly increase was in people in their 30’s with nine more cases followed by people in their 20’s with seven more cases.

Last week public health reported that 11 people over the age of 80 years old had tested positive, but this week that number was amended down to 10.
